Food labels must give the name and address of the manufacturer, packer, distributor, importer, exporter or seller and declare both the registro sanitario (DIGEMAPS) and registro industrial numbers (RTD 53 §5.4–5.5, enforced by Pro Consumidor Resolution 1579-22 on anyone who sells, imports or produces the food); cosmetics must show the titular, the manufacturing laboratory and conditioner, their country of origin and the NSO (Notificación Sanitaria Obligatoria) code.
Mandatory label text must be in Spanish, or a complementary Spanish label must reproduce the original exactly (brands may stay in the original language), DIGEMAPS label changes require artwork that meets NORDOM 53, and cosmetics and hygiene products sold in the country must carry Spanish, legible labels with ingredients by INCI or Spanish name, lot and expiry date.
Claims (declaración de propiedades) must not be false or misleading under RTD 53, with foods for special or dietary regimes covered by RTD 634, and Pro Consumidor samples and lab-tests products to check that what the label declares matches the product.
